Blast furnace drill rod

Blast furnace drill rod is a special core force transmission component for taphole opening operations of metallurgical blast furnaces. As a rigid connection bridge between the taphole opening machine and the drill bit, it is specially designed for the extreme working conditions of high temperature (above 800℃), high dust, strong impact and high wear in front of the blast furnace. It accurately transmits the high-frequency impact energy and rotational torque of the taphole opening machine to the drill bit, and has a built-in water passage for cooling and slag discharge. It is a key equipment to ensure the smooth discharge of molten iron in the blast furnace and continuous operation in front of the furnace. It is suitable for taphole opening, furnace cleaning, furnace body maintenance and other operations of blast furnaces with different volumes (500-5000m³), and is used in conjunction with blast furnace button drill bits, cross drill bits, three-tooth drill bits and other matching tools.

After the blast furnace taphole opening machine is started, the power head outputs high-frequency impact energy and rotational torque, which is transmitted to the drill rod body through the connection structure at one end of the drill rod; the drill rod conducts power to the drill bit connected at the other end coaxially without loss, drives the drill bit to impact and rotate, and gradually crushes the refractory mud sleeve and stemming layer at the taphole; at the same time, high-pressure cooling water flows into the central water passage hole of the drill rod through the waterway of the taphole opening machine, directly to the drill bit working surface, cools the high-temperature drill bit and the drill rod end, and flushes and discharges the broken mud and dust out of the taphole; with the continuous propulsive force of the taphole opening machine, the drill rod drives the drill bit to gradually penetrate into the taphole until the molten iron channel is opened to realize the smooth discharge of molten iron, and the drill rod retracts and resets with the taphole opening machine after the operation is completed.
